Southern Oil has established a Social & Ethics Committee, as required by section 72(4) of the Companies Act of 2008, to make sure the company is and remains socially and ethically committed.
Effective ethics is a team effort involving the participation and support of every Southern Oil Employee. Southern Oil promote a trustworthy and honest atmosphere to reinforce the vision of ethics within the company.
SOILL see itself as an integral part of the greater community of Swellendam and realise the responsibility of the company to support and empower the community.
SOILL focus on the historic disadvantaged groups in the community that suffers the most in these economic trying times, namely children and elderly persons in need. Numerous ad hoc donations are being done on a continuous basis to schools, churches, retirement establishments, children homes and registered feeding schemes in the community. SOILL has also identified institutions that we support on a monthly basis. SOILL has further sponsored in partnership with CANSA a breast cancer test instrument that is being used to test and warn, woman in under privileged areas of potential breast cancer.
A Canola Development Trust has also been established and the primary goal of this trust is to ultimately empower the employees of our Producers.
