Laboratory Analyst

Summary:

The main responsibility of this position is to ensure that good laboratory practices are followed, quality testing is conducted, reported and to take full responsibility for the handling and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for verification of routine QC sample analysis, compiling of COA’s and reporting of results
• Responsible for operating sensitive laboratory equipment (e.g. NIR, ICP, GC, etc.)
• Daily and weekly verification checks and test reports
• Raw Materials (Seeds/oils/packaging) – inspection of Goods Received
• Preparation of chemical solutions and standards
• Sample preparation from set test methods
• Involvement with laboratory projects
• Assist in the training verification of new lab trainees
• Housekeeping & Cleaning

Key competencies:

Education and skills required:

• B.Sc degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology or Food Technology. Candidates with a diploma in Analytical Chemistry are also welcome to apply
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Afrikaans
• Computer Literate (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)

Experience required:

• 1 – 2 years’ laboratory experience will be advantage
